One year, a few years ago now, a great organ professor for the University of Notre Dame gave a series of concerts at the Cathedral of my home diocese. This concert series was the complete organ works of Dietrich Buxtehude. I didn’t get to go to all three concerts, but I did manage to make one, because his late wife was my mom’s choir conductor at Notre Dame and in fact I think my mom said she took a class from him once.
Well, since then, my interest in organ music has deepened (though my knowledge is still not great). I began listening to some of Buxtehude’s pieces today and came across this Prelude and Fugue — in F Sharp Minor.
As I always say, this isn’t a hymn, so forgive me, but enjoy the piece!
